Jaime and Matt | Santa Cruz Engagement Session

So much I want to say about this session!! I was so excited that I edited this session in two days, I just couldn't tear myself away from the pictures on the screen.

Jaime and I have "known" each other for a few months now- she is a burgeoning wedding and portrait photographer based out of San Francisco (website) and we connected over the internet. We were both struck by the similarity of our stories. We were both born in South Korea and adopted. We were both born on the same day. We both loved photography. The minute I told my husband about Jaime his head snapped up and he squawked, "ARE YOU TWINS?" LOL. We've tried to meet once before, but with schedules, and my two kids, it didn't work out, so Jaime and I decided on last weekend to do an engagement shoot for her and Matt. I was so excited, and set jauntily off towards Pacific Avenue.

Meanwhile, my sweet and lovely husband decided to take our two kids on a bike ride in the bike trailer. He got about two miles from the house when David (the youngest) decided he wanted out, and he wanted out NOW. He started screaming. And he kept on screaming, despite my husband's best efforts. My poor husband decided to buckle them back in the trailer and head home. David did not WANT to get back into the trailer. He screamed. Gagged. Upchucked all his food for the day. I was already down on Pacific Avenue when my husband called. The trailer was unrideable, I would have to come and pick them up. Throwing around curse words that would make a sailor blush I raced home. Grabbed the kids, threw them in the bath, handed them off to my husband who biked home as fast as humanly possible and threw myself out the door.

When I first met Jaime and Matt- my first coherent thought (after spluttering out apologies) was, "I am so glad that they found each other." And that's what marriage is really all about I think. Finding that person who makes you better, who makes you a fuller, more complete person. I loved them both. Jaime was everything I thought she was going to be. :-) It was so much shooting another photographer! Whoda thunk? Jaime had posing ideas and knew instinctively what I wanted but still let me totally be the photographer.

It was such a wonderful, awesome session. Jaime and Matt are getting married in San Lucia in November, I wish them every single best wish that I can think of, and I can't wait to get to know them better and more when they get back!
